Vintage Dresser

Hi Guys!

Hope your week is off to a great start! Did you all get out and vote?

We have been busier than ever whipping up some awesome pieces! Recently we have picked up some amazing antique pieces!

Remember this guy?

We picked this birch dresser from a sweet couple who no longer had room for it in their home. The man had it in his room growing up for as long as he could remember and prior to that it belonged to his mother. It went back a looong time.We were so surprised at the amazing shape it had been kept in. The drawers were lined in the oldest paper we've ever seen (which was still in immaculate condition!).

When we posted this guy on Instagram yesterday, we received some comments from people that said "leave it alone!!", "don't do anything to it!", "the wood is too nice!". Now, don't get us wrong, we believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions (we have lots!). We also believe that wood can be enhanced. While we may not be old school in the belief that old furniture shouldn't be touched, we love to bring it back to life while maintaining much of it's original beauty. We always appreciate opinions and feedback and want you all to know that no furniture has been harmed in the process!!!! Promise.

We stripped this guy down to it's bones, which took no time because the sealer had almost completely worn off with time. Then we stained it in a warm tone called "Special Walnut". It's a beautiful deep golden brown shade that's nice and warm.

The grain on this guy is really cool. It goes wavy from being cut at an angle. We love the character in old furniture that new stuff seems to lack.

We added some gorgeous vintage flower petal knobs. They really add to this piece!

We painted this in Annie Sloan's "Pure White" and scuffed it up a bit for that vintage feel. We lined painted the inside of the drawers a soft mauve and lined them with a really pretty paper!

Notice the backboard of the dresser in the picture above..

At some point this dresser had a mirror on it so it had a gap between the back of it. A friend of ours who has basically dedicated his life to woodworking, whipped us up a custom piece that goes perfectly. He took a template off of the front bottom curved piece so it all ties in perfectly. You would never know it wasn't forever a part of this dresser!

So how was that for a "Transformation Tuesday"?

Tada!!!

We will miss this beauty but it is indeed for sale!

Have a happy Wednesday,
